Make the Road New York
Estee Ward is a staff attorney for the workplace justice legal team at Make the Road New York (MRNY), a community-based organization with offices in New York City, Westchester, and Long Island. She represents low-wage and immigrant workers in a wide range of employment matters, including wage and hour, discrimination, paid leave, and other benefits-related matters. She also provides ongoing policy and direct action support to MRNY’s ongoing organizing efforts to build power for working people and raise labor standards for all workers. Since the spring of 2020, she has played an integral role in the statewide Excluded No More (formerly Fund Excluded Workers) coalition.
Estee holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she served as student director of the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) and was awarded the Toll Public Interest Excellence in Leadership Award and the Dean Jefferson B. Fordham Human Rights Award. Prior to law school, she lived in Jordan as a Fulbright scholar studying the women’s labor movement and the influence of foreign aid on the region’s gender equality discourse. Her publications include Coming Up Short: The State of Wage Theft Enforcement in New York, Step up for the Essential but Excluded, and Women & the Making of the Tunisian Constitution.
