Leitner Center welcomes visiting African professor in residence Dr. OB Tshosa

The Leitner Center for International Law and Justice is pleased to welcome Dr. OB Tshosa as the Law School’s first visiting African professor in residence for the Fall 2009 semester.

Dr Onkemetse Basta Tshosa (Dr Tshosa) was born on 7 March 1965 in the Republic of Botswana. He received his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1990 at the University of Botswana, his Master of Laws in 1992 at the University of Lund in Sweden and his PhD in 1999 from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, United Kingdom. Dr Tshosa joined the Department of Law of the University of Botswana as a Staff Development Fellow, was promoted to Lecturer in Law and later to Senior Lecturer in Law. From 2005 to 2008, he was Head of the Department of Law at the University of Botswana. Dr Tshosa is an attorney of the High Court of Botswana and is currently a Judge on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Tribunal. His areas of specialization are international law, human rights law and environmental law.

Professor Tshosa, former head of the Department of Law at the University of Botswana, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Leitner Center and the Law School community.  Professor Tshosa will teach a class in comparative legal history and systems.
